Choose wisely who will be your trainer(s). The wrong person who gets stuck in the roll of training employees without their ‘buy-in’ can kill your program before it gets started. Change is tough for a lot of people, and they may fear the training. Look for someone with the skills necessary to train who is also enthusiastic and can champion the program in your absence.

Measure results! I’ll say that again. Measure results! Upper management can quickly kill a program that is costing money if you cannot show hard data that reflects the improved skills and abilities of the workforce. Show efficiency, falling failure rates, less waste, etc. Charts, numbers, percentages… Measure before you start, then track progress.

Engaging in employee training and development with strong discipline can turn an average company into a world-class operation if everyone is sold on the change, and you can dedicate enough time and energy into ensuring the program’s success. A good disciplinary policy can make a huge difference to your employee training.
