AdSense Earnings
There are a lot of problems that face the average blogger. From traffic to getting paid a decent amount of money for the generation of traffic via whatever way you have decided to monetize your blog etc. Many bloggers panic about something called ‘smart pricing’ from google, and that their adsense earnings per click will be affected and all the work they did to find top paying adsense keywords not to mention all the backlinking and promotional work will have been a waste of time since it isn’t producing the expected results.
So, how does smart pricing work?
Firstly, it’s rather unconfirmed. But then many of Google’s activities are unconfirmed! Let’s assume it exists.
The theory is that if an advertiser through google gets less conversions from your site, Google will then put cheaper impression value ads on your site. Which kind of makes sense since as an advertiser I wouldn’t want unqualified leads! The problem with the theory is that unless the advertiser actually tells Google how much they are making through any particular lead generation, and there is currently no system for doing so since the lead will produce views but not necessarily conversions immediately but they may do at a future date, the analysis is impossible.
However, my opinion is that what can be assessed by analytics is how long a lead will stay on a site, and particularly a page. So if the person clicks the ad on your site, but the site he goes through to is not relevant to his or her current research, then the time on that site will be significantly smaller. Hence, google is able to reason that the ad on your site is not relevant to the searcher’s needs.
All this means that you need to avoid the practices that produce false or unqualified leads for your advertisers. Avoidance tactics include:
1) Write a niche focused article
2) Avoid aggressive marketing
3) Recognize your responsibility to your advertisers
4) Recognize your place in the buying chain
5) Avoid putting ads somewhere where they may be clicked by accident.
